Region 42 Offside and AR Mechanics Workshop
Each season Region 42 offers an Offside and Assistant Referee (AR) Workshop about three weeks into the season. This is an informal clinic. Attendees don’t need to register in advance and it’s not listed in aysou.org as a clinic or course.
The course will be offered on September 28, 2024, 3:00–5:00 in Board area at Pepper Tree Park (next to the Snack Shack). There is no need to register. Interested parties should just show up.
The purpose of the workshop is to review the Offside Law (Law 11) and Assistant Referee (AR) mechanics (positioning, flag procedures, etc.), after new and returning referees have had a few weeks of the season to work on their game. Referees often have questions based on their first few games and this is a chance to explore those questions and related topics.
After completing the Offside Workshop, and at the discretion of the Referee Staff, we will open up 12U AR slots (which are at Dos Vientos Park) in the Referee Scheduler System to the Regional Referees who attended the workshop. This can be helpful for referee parents whose children are playing at Dos Vientos and who would otherwise need to drive over to Pepper Tree Park to referee games.
