Region 42 Coach Training

The information below describes the Region 42 Coach Training for the 2025–26 season.

1. Register as a volunteer

MANDATORY for all coaches each year! Please see the volunteer page for additional requirements.

2. Coach Training and Certification Course(s) for 5/6U, 7/8U, 10U and 12U coaches

Two dates available for Region 42 in person training (You only need to attend one session but you must attend for the Division you will be coaching; 10U Coaches cannot coach other divisions unless they are trained in that Division as well.)

• When: Saturday. July 11, 2026, or Saturday, July 25, 2026
  • 6U Coach Course: 8:00 - 10:00 am
  • 8U Coach Course: 9:00 - 11:00 am
  • 10U Coach Course: 10:00 - Noon
  • 12U Coach Course: 1:00 - 4:00 pm
• Where: Rocky & Lon Morton Boys & Girls Club at Sequoia Middle School
• Prior to these in in person courses you must take the appropriate online part of the course on AYSOU.
  • 5/6U coaches should take the 6U online course
  • 7/8U coaches should take the 8U online course
    
  • 10U coaches should take the 10U online course
  • 12U coaches should take the 12U online pre-course
• Please see the volunteer page for instructions on how to register for both the AYSOU and in person courses.
• Register on AYSOU.  Contact your Division Director if you need assistance.
• Bring: Pen/pencil and a note pad. There will also be a field session so wear appropriate shoes and bring sunscreen, water and a soccer ball.

If you cannot make it to either of those dates, you may take the course in any other AYSO region. However, you may be required to pay a fee if you take a course outside Area 10E (eastern Ventura County), V (San Fernando Valley), or W (western Ventura County) – please ask the course instructor; Region 42 will reimburse you if there is a cost. Please see AYSOU for complete course listings (enter via your volunteer page). Region 42 does not charge any fee for the class for anyone.

3. Intermediate/Advanced Coach Courses

Region 42 does not offer these courses, but you can take it wherever it is available. Coaches in the 14U division must be certified as an Intermediate coach, and those in the 16U/19U divisions must have the Advanced certification.

Please check in AYSOU for nearby courses.  They are usually added as the season nears and sometimes during the season, so keep checking.

Prerequisites:

• Intermediate course: Coaches must have passed the 12U course.
• Advanced course: Coaches must have passed the Intermediate course.
