Air Quality and Area Fires

With fires burning in nearby communities there has been concern expressed about the air quality and how it might affect practices and games in Newbury Park. At this time, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the Newbury Park area is just entering the "Moderate". The recommendations from the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District are:

Everyone: Don't see or smell smoke? It's OK to open windows or go outdoors.

Unusually Sensitive People: Consider making outdoor activities light and short. Go inside to cleaner air if you have symptoms.

Region 42 will continue to monitor conditions throughout Friday and Saturday. If conditions worsen to the point that games need to be cancelled we will post notifications on the region website, Facebook and via email.

Air quality information is obtained from several sources, including the EPA, the Ventura County Air Pollution Control District and the California Air Resources Board.
