COACHES: UPCOMING CERTIFICATION CLINICS
If you're a coach or assistant coach that is moving on to post-season play, remember that you MUST be certified to coach at the level you will be coaching at during post-season. If you need to get certified, there are upcoming opportunities to take the coaching clinics you need:
•Intermediate Coach, Dec 4 in Simi Valley
and Dec 5 & 6 at Conejo Creek
    (must attend all 3 days)

Contact Arno Liechti for registration information, or sign-up in e•AYSO; search for courses in Section 10, Area E.

REMINDER: NO PETS OF ANY KIND PERMITTED AT ANY AYSO EVENT
While neighbors around our fields may walk their pets around the park's paths, no pets of any kind may be near the fields themselves. This includes but is not limited to: dogs, cats, gerbils, hamsters, dragons, lizards, and birds. This is not only part of our permit conditions, but is also for the safety of our players. A few seasons ago one of our players, as he ran to retrieve a ball, was bitten by a normally docile dog with no history of aggression. To help ensure the safety of our players, referees may stop play until the dog has left the field area. So please, no pets at the fields.

NEW TO AYSO? WELCOME!!
If you are new to AYSO, visit our welcome page to see the AYSO Parent Orientation Video to help you learn mo re about AYSO and what parents and players can expect from becoming part of the AYSO family.

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST REGISTER AT E•AYSO
All volunteers, please go to the e•AYSO website and complete your registration for the upcoming season. Even if you volunteered in the past you must complete, print, and sign a new registration form each and every year.

Please get your form submitted ASAP. You will not be registered as a volunteer until our CVPA (Child and Volunteer Protection Advocate) enters your Pre-Registration form into the National AYSO database. At that time, new volunteers will be issued an AYSO ID number. If you are not registered, you are not eligible to participate in AYSO activities.

AYSO is run by volunteers; coaches, assistant coaches, teams parents, referees, region board members, and more...they're all volunteers! If you are filling one of these roles you MUST register as a volunteer using e•AYSO: AYSO's online registration tool.

  • PANTHER SHOOTOUT UPDATE

THANK YOU TO ALL THE TEAMS THAT ATTENDED!
Thanks to all the teams that attended this year's Panther Shootout tournament, and to all the staff, parents and others that volunteered to make it a fun-filled two days!

Results from the 13th Annual Panther Shootout are now posted on the Panther Shootout Homepage!

THANK YOU LETTERS FROM OUR TROOPS
30th Naval Construction Regiment Thank you to all the teams that contributed items for Care Packages sent to the troops overseas. We have begun to receive "Thank You!" e-mails and letters from the troops that received the care packages, and they are all very thankful for the items that were sent.

Please take a look at the e-mails and photos that we have received so far so you can see the impact you've had!

NO SOCCER PARKING IN
NEIGHBORHOODS AT PEPPERTREE
risk of losing our permits to play at peppertree
As a condition of our permits to use Peppertree Playfields, we must be respectful of the homeowners and cannot allow soccer parking on the residential streets in the neighborhood adjacent to the park. Because of a situation a couple of weeks ago involving our No Parking signs in the neighborhood, we have not been able to put up our signs. We hope to have them there again in the next week or two.

With or without the signs in place though, if people continue to park in the neighborhood, we are in jeopardy of losing our permits to play soccer at Peppertree Playfields! We realize that parking is a challenge at Peppertree, but we must ask that everyone please be good soccer neighbors and do not park in the neighborhood.

REGION 42 ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY
In the past years, Region 42 has witnessed incidents where coaches and/or spectators questioned the calls of referees, requiring referees to stop matches in order to deal with the situation. We even had an incident where a youth referee was verbally abused. These incidents have prompted us to remind everyone that Region 42 has a long standing, zero tolerance policy prohibiting such behavior.

Please take a few moments to review the Region 42 Zero Tolerance policy.

SNACK SHACK SCHEDULE UPDATED
Some teams did not send their volunteers to help work the Snack Shack this past weekend. This caused extra work for the volunteers that were on-hand. Please remember that all personnel working the AYSO Region 42 Snack Shack are volunteers, and we need team volunteers on-hand for their scheduled shifts so that we have enough personnel available to help out.

Teams in U7-U10: Please check the updated Snack Shack schedule and help ensure that your team sends the appropriate number of volunteers to help out for the short period they're needed. Thank you very much for your help!

REFEREE FEEDBACK FORM NOW ONLINE
Games cannot be played without referees, and we want to help ensure that our volunteer referees are doing the best possible job to help ensure matches are fun and safe for all players. If you have positive feedback about a referee, or constructive input that you would like to share with our Referee Administrator, please use our new Referee Feedback Form.

WHAT NOT TO WEAR TO A GAME
Please remember that there are certain items that may not be worn by players during games and that these items should be addressed prior to arriving at the field:
-- No earrings: Players wearing earrings cannot play. Earrings cannot be covered with tape; they must be removed.
-- No bracelets: Players also cannot wear bracelets (except for MedicAlert bracelets), including "friendship" bracelets.
-- No toe cleats: Players cannot wear shoes with a toe cleat; typically found on baseball shoes.
These rules are in place for the safety of all players on the field. Please help to ensure that your player is ready for a safe and fun day.

Be sure to check your player's game schedules for game times, and use our field maps to help you find where you need to go.

REMEMBER...
Before you're rushing out the door to get to the fields, here are some things to remember to do, bring, and not to bring in order to make the day more enjoyable for everyone!
  • GOAL SETUP/TEARDOWN & FIELD STRIPING - It is the responsibilities of the teams playing the first game of the day on each field to set up the goals and stripe the fields, and the teams playing the last game of the day on each field to teardown the goals and place the equipment in the bags. If you have the first game of the day please be sure you show up earlier enough to help with these tasks. See our tips for goal setup & teardown and field striping.
  • UNIFORM - Be sure your player is in their complete uniform; shoes, socks, shin guards, shorts and team jersey. Remember, for the safety of all players: no earrings, no bracelets, no toe cleats.
  • NO DOGS - While neighbors around our fields may walk their dogs around the park's paths, no dogs may be near the fields themselves. This is not only part of our permit conditions, but is also for the safety of our players. A few seasons ago one of our players, as he ran to retrieve a ball, was bitten by a normally docile dog with no history of aggression. To help ensure the safety of our players, referees may stop play until the dog has left the field area. So please, no dogs at the fields.
  • WATER OR SPORTS DRINKS - The National Weather Service Forecast is "Highs in the upper 80s and 90s." Make sure you bring fluids not only for your player, but for yourself. Please bring extra for the referees on your game too.
  • SUNSCREEN - Whether you're running on the field or watching the match, make sure that you and your player are covered with sunscreen. Even in the early morning, an hour in the sun can leave you a little red.
  • CHAIR OR BLANKET - There are no bleachers for our fields so be sure you bring something you feel comfortable to sit on for the length of the match, such as a blanket or a folding chair. Spectators are not allowed to sit nor stand behind the goals, and please be sure to be far enough back from the field for the coaches to coach and the players to play.
  • SNACKS - Make sure you bring something for yourself and players to snack on during and after their matches. The snack shack at Peppertree Playfields serves snacks, hot dogs, hamburgers, sodas and more, but there is no snack shack at Dos Vientos fields.
  • A GREAT ATTITUDE - Have a great day and lets make this a great day for all players!

AYSO Region 42 annually renews the permits needed to use our fields for our events.  This includes all events - games, practices, picture day, etc. - and all fields - Peppertree, Dos Vientos, and other areas used for practices. There are two conditions of these permits that we need your help with:

no dogs at events:

While neighbors around our fields may walk their dogs around the park's paths, no dogs may be near the fields themselves. This is not only part of our permit conditions, but is also for the safety of our players. A few seasons ago one of our players, as he ran to retrieve a ball, was bitten by a normally docile dog with no history of aggression. To help ensure the safety of our players, referees may stop play until the dog has left the field area. So please, no dogs at the fields.

no parking on residential streets:

At Peppertree Fields, please be sure you and any of your guests at games do not park on the nearby residential streets. This is not only part of being a Good Neighbor, but is a condition of our field permits as well.

  • SILENT SATURDAYS MAKE BETTER PLAYERS

Why Sideline Screaming Can Stifle Your Child's Game  -   by mike woitalla
Imagine you're undertaking a fairly difficult task: assembling a piece of furniture with hieroglyphic instructions, filling out IRS Form 4562 on April 14, or standing on the highest rungs of a ladder painting the crown moulding in your living room with 14-foot ceilings. Think it would help if someone yelled at you during the process? Of course not.
