What is AYSO Alliance?
AYSO Alliance is a tryout-based program for motivated players (born in 2017 and older) who want higher-level competition. Teams will compete in external club leagues and tournaments against other club teams, while remaining fully part of the AYSO family. It serves as an important step in AYSO’s player development pathway, helping talented athletes progress toward even higher levels of play.
Key Benefits of the Alliance Program
- Club-level competition with more challenging games, skilled opponents, and increased focus on skill development and team tactics.
- AYSO’s proven philosophies — positive coaching, emphasis on player development, and the spirit of the game — all at a significantly lower cost than other club soccer programs (thanks to volunteer coaches and AYSO’s national resources).
- Access to high-quality training and a year-long program (with some built-in breaks) that prioritizes soccer development.
- The best of both worlds: the structure and community of AYSO combined with the intensity of club play.
This program allows us to better support our more competitive players, retain talent within the AYSO family, and provide a clear progression path without families needing to leave for outside clubs.
How to Participate

If your child is interested in Alliance:
- Please register for Alliance tryouts at AYSO9.org. Prior registration is required for players to participate in tryouts. Register using the same link as AYSO Core registration but select the Alliance program which will not charge you until/unless your player accepts an invitation after the tryouts.
In the meantime, we encourage all families to continue registering for the AYSO Core program as usual. You can register for the Core Program in Newbury Park, and also the Alliance program at Region 9's site. If your player is selected for Alliance, we will happily apply your Core registration fees toward the Alliance program. (You may register for Core registration and Alliance tryouts simultaneously).
We’re excited about this addition to our offerings and believe it will provide an outstanding experience for those seeking greater challenges while keeping the fun, positive environment that makes AYSO special.
We are sure you have questions, so please refer to the attached FAQs. If you still have questions after reading the FAQ document, please reach out to our Alliance Coordinators at [email protected].
Thank you for your continued support of AYSO — we can’t wait to see our players grow on and off the field - whether through our amazing Core program or through this new Alliance pathway!
Best regards, Bob Tokin and Adam Mallord
