Denise,

I received a package from Erick Gilbert today that your organization had sent; let me tell you, what was in the package was stunning!! I have been looking all over this country for green tea and a new razor!! The little things in life here like toothpaste and Chap Stick are the things that you take for granted. I have attached a picture of my team, Erick unfortunately was not in it because he is always busy keeping our shop running.

Thank you so very much,

Dear Commissioner Gilder,

Good morning and I hope this email finds you and your organization in the best of spirits.

First and foremost, I wanted to say THANK YOU to the team of "The Newbury Park Soccer Family" for the wonderful care packages received here in Afghanistan. One of my Seabees deployed with me was eagerly passing out these boxes of joy to the men and women deployed in support of OPERATION Enduring Freedom.

Spending 10 of my 16 years in Oxnard, it is reassuring and heart-warming that the local community, that I call home, appreciates the sacrifices that many men and women make on a daily basis.

Once again, please pass on my personal thanks and personal care that was put into the care packages. As a husband and father of three, words cannot express my gratitude for people, like who are in this organization, that remember those of us who serve.

Sincerely,
Frank Palmer

Dear Newbury Park AYSO members!

Your thoughtful care packages arrived in Aghanistan this week and members of the 30th Naval Construction Regiment were the lucky recipients. We are located in South Afghanistan near the city of Kandahar which is the second largest city in the country. The Regiment supervises all of the construction work that takes place in southern Aghanistan. As you can maybe imagine that is a large task in a country that is mostly undeveloped. Sometimes we have to build a brand new base from scratch out of the countryside! Seabees have to fight sometimes too. The motto of the Seabees is "Contruimus, Batuimus." That is Latin for "we build, we fight." Working out here is no fun and can be draining. Getting packages from home makes a big difference. Maybe a soccer field should be our next project!

Thanks!
